The farm continues to expand it ever growing family. Yesterday a badling of ducklings arrived at TLF! Everyone can't resist the cuteness of these ducklings and for awhile the staff of the farm cannot keep their their hands away from them! They will soon be raise in the farm so in the future little kids can feed them.

A visit from Canada Rotary GSE team!
A Rotary GSE (Group Study Exchange) team came by yesterday to visit the farm. They were amazed with the beauty of the farm and wished they could stay here and never leave. They enjoyed their visit at the farm with BBQ for lunch, T-shirt printing, pizza making, a brief tour around the farm, a visit to the Cang Jiu Winery for some wine tasting and they ended the day with coffee, tea, bickie (biscuit) and french fries! at the winery.

菜包 (vegetable bun)!
A group of visiting kindergarten children had a fun morning making 菜包. 菜包 is a chinese bun or known as "Pao" made by glutinous rice flour and stuffed with onions, mushrooms and other fresh ingredients. The farm's teacher started by giving a demonstration to the kids on how it is done and later on the kids got started with their own菜包.

Budding green carpet!
As each passing day, the field around Toucheng Leisure Farm's DIY center gets greener and greener! We finally see budding grasses growing out of the once gravel ground. The DIY center will soon have a lush green bed of grass as part of it aesthetic background. We may see a carpet of green grass before the year end!

Night Markets
For some people, when you mention Taiwan the first thing that they will think off will be the Night Markets. Yep, Taiwan is specially known for their night markets. Each city, district, and county will have their very own night market. Most of these night markets sell foods and drinks. You can also buy some other stuffs like clothing, accessories, shoes and etc in these markets. Taiwanese love their night markets as you can see from the sea of people flocking to it every night. It part of the culture in Taiwan and Taiwanese are proud of it.
Taitung+Hualien+Yilan in 3 days!!
Last week Taiwan had a 4 days holiday. So not to waste my few remaining weeks in Taiwan, I joined my 2 university course-mates for a trip down to Taitung+Hualien+Yilan. Hectic traveling was done throughout the 2 days with alot of walking! Overall we had a great time and captured many scenic pictures!

Children and Money Tree
After the paddy planting. The group of children came by to the DIY centre to continue with their planting activity. This time the children planted the germinated Malabar Tree seeds in small pots. They filled the pots with chicken dung, a Malabar tree seed and lastly watered the pots. Each children gets to bring home a pot which they planted and it up to them to look after it at home.
Time to plant some paddy!
Today, a group of children who arrived last night took the
time to go down the field to have a hands experience in paddy planting.
It a first time for the group, so excitement filled the air!.
Facilitators guided the children into the paddy field and everyone had a
great time trying to plant the paddy. Laughter and squeal of excitement
can be heard all around the paddy field.

Growing money
The money tree seeds (Pachira aquatica) are germinating! Soon we can transplant these seeds out from the box once they are ready. These seeds will be planted by primary children next week. At the mean time, the seeds are being look after well.
紅鳳菜
Part of running a farm is to have a vegetable garden and Toucheng Leisure Farm is proud of their vegetable garden. One of the pecks having your very own vegetable garden, is that you don't have to worry about going out to buy vegetables. Toucheng Leisure Farm grows some of their vegetable which they include and serve to their visitors.
Grass Jelly in Toucheng Leisure Farm
In Toucheng Leisure Farm, I came across a black jelly where back home it is known as cincau or leung fen. But to my amazement, Toucheng Leisure Farm have an even cool name for the black jelly. Here it is called the "Burn Fairy" (literally 仙草茶, Grass Jelly Tea).
Pizza and alot of KIDS!
Today 150 primary students from one of Toucheng's Primary School came to visit for a day trip. The farm came alive with children chit chatting away. The highlight of their day was when they were brought to the pizza making place. The children were divided into groups and they got a hands on experience in making pizza.

Plucking leaves in the Kitchen
During the afternoon, I was called to help out in the kitchen. When i entered the room, in front of me was a pile of purplish plants. I was told to separate the leaves from the plant since it the leaves that the farm wants.
Activities for the upcoming Summer Camp 2013
This year summer camp, the Farm planning to organize an activity where the children will be teach how to say greetings in another country language and get to know different countries food.

First Kilning Experience
Today I got to experience first hand how to make a kiln (natural oven made out of mud rocks). The process is called kilning and visitors at the farm can experience it in one of they activities.
Never ending of white radishes
Yesterday I helped out with the kitchen department in washing tons & tons of white radishes. The farm ordered many boxes that I didn't have the chance to count.

This morning, I was brought along to the Cang Jiu Winery to witnessed a cooking variety show done by 2 singaporean artist under Mediacorp Pte Ltd. The name of this show was "Good Man Good Food
