Chili Pepper Season!

As I was taking s stroll around the farm, I came across a row of chili pepper plant growing at the side of the pathway leading to the vegetable garden. Chili pepper plant produce fruit year round depending on the plant vigor and environmental growing condition. The chili pepper plants at the farm have produced fruits and usually pepper fruits are ready to be harvested 65-90 days after planting.

Chili peppers have  high versatility, they can be processed and developed into different sorts of value-added products. Example of products that may contain chili peppers include meat dishes, salad dressing, mayonnaise, dairy products, beverages, candies, baked goods, salsa, hot sauces, pharmaceuticals, and even cosmetics!

Chili peppers are rich in vitamins C and Vitamin A. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's national nutrition descriptor also included fat-free, saturated fat- free, very low sodium, cholesterol-free, and low in calories. Chili peppers also contain vitamin E, capsanthin, zeaxanthin, and carotenoids. It believe that chili pepper is use as a medicinal, capsaicin, the compound responsible for the pungency in peppers, is used to relieve pain from arthritis and migraines and for cough or stuffy nose relief. It has also been shown to have anti-clotting properties.

The cultivation scale of chili pepper in TLF is small mainly for the farm own consumption and for visiting guests to harvest them and bring them home. That the purpose why Toucheng Leisure Farm grows vegetables and fruits around the farm is give visitors the chance to harvest them with their very own hands and experience the joy of harvesting.
