As the dragon boat festival is approaching, we will make our own rice dumplings annually. Dragon boat festival is the traditional festival of China. People would celebrate it with rowing the dragon boats, eating rice dumplings and etc.
The rice dumpling origins from Chinese history. A man called Chyuh Yuarn,who was once a minister of a monarchy, jumped into the river as committing his suicide because he couldn't stand watching his country falling into others' territory. He was beloved by the people, so when they found that Chyuh Yuarn died in the river, they decided to throw some rice into the river to prevent the fish from eating his dead body. That's how the origin of the rice dumplings comes from.
Making rice dumplings on our own is quite exhausted, because from cutting leaves to fixing it on the rope, all fall to be our tasks. I have washed leaves and packaged them fro these two days, and we are going to do the same things every day until next week, as the amount of production achieves what customers want.
There are mushrooms, fried shrimps, peanuts, dried radish peels and pork, serving as the stuffing. As for leaves, we use a kind of flowers, so when the rice dumplings are going to be steamed, the fragrance of that flower will come out, which makes the food more appealing and delicious.
