Development Traineeship in Toucheng Leisure Farm by AIESEC

Hi!

My name´s Camila and I´m from São Paulo, Brazil. I´m doing my development traineeship in Yilan County, Taiwan by AIESEC. Thanks LC INSPER for that experience!

I´m working in Toucheng Leisure Farm, a really ecological farm, that has a lot of things to do, specially learning about nature.

Toucheng Leisure Farm is more than a simple hotel farm. The minority of people have awareness about the importance of the environment, but here everything is reused.

Ecology is the basis of the farm´s development and sustainability is its aim. They preserve the natural environment by minimizing the impacts of development around the surrounding. For example, the ground of most places in the farm are covered with stones instead of cement, to make sure the water flows into the ground and sustain the lives of the underground animals and tiny insects.

Water used by the hotel, kitchen and the animals, receive treatment before being disposed into the river/ocean again. All the rest of food and animal excrements goes to the plants. And it isn´t so simple, each plant needs a different type of nutrient for your growth, so this procedure must be done carefully.

And there´s even more: Bamboos are harvested for the materials used in DIY activities; fallen trees are transformed into wooden hammocks or tree houses; plates and chopsticks are washed and sterilized after use to avoid disposable dining wares.

Everything in this farm is just ecologically correct!! It is incredible! :)
