This year Taiwan Lantern Festival was held at Hsinchu County. A 2 hour 1/2 minute journey if your departing from Toucheng Station (which I did =D ).
Once arriving at the lantern area, you will be surrounded by the different colours, sizes and shapes of the lanterns!.
That night the wind was blowing dropping the temperature to 12 Celsius. Although it was raining in the beginning, but the spectators are eager to see the lanterns which are only display once every year.
